Anti-Bullying Policy
 
The goal at Lindsey is to maintain a safe and civil learning environment at all times while promoting principled and balanced behavior in all of our students.
 
What is bullying?
Bullying is the use of one’s strength or status for the purpose of intimidating, injuring, or humiliating another person.
 
Types of bullying?
  • Physical
  • Verbal
  • Social
  • Sexual Harassment
A Few bullying facts
  • 30% of 6th – 10th graders report moderate to frequent involvement in bullying

              13% as a bully

             11% as a target

             6% as both
  • 75% of school-age children report being bullied at least once during the school year
  • Repeated bullying leads to 10% of all dropouts
  • Bullies are 4 times more likely to be convicted of a crime by age 24
  • 71% of teachers and 25% of students say “teachers almost always intervene” to stop bullying
Lindsey’s Procedures for dealing with bullying
  • Put in place a ‘Bully Box’~Bully Box will be place outside the main office
             -Box will be anonymous
             -Only administration will have key to unlock it
             -Box will be checked daily
  • Victim will be interviewed (if we know who he/she is)
  • Accused will be interviewed
  • If person is found to be a bully consequences will be assigned, when appropriate
  • Parents of the victim and accused will be contacted
  • Bully will be assigned to the “Connect with Kids” program
  • Ongoing monitoring and supervision of the situation
